This image was taken in a cemetery next to the subdivision where I
lived. As I drove to work every day, the stone angel had it's back
turned to the houses, the living breathing people. It faced resolutely
towards the dead in the cemetery. This image represents the
sacrifice that people make in their lives hoping to trade the joys of
this world for some rewards promised after death. By devaluing
things in this world and pinning our hopes on metaphysical
speculation, many people around the world make great sacrifices
every day without carefully considering the value of what they forego,
without clear confirmation of the rewards for which they are so eager
to trade in life's opportunities.
